Well, we are here to give you a few tips on what we look for in a winning photo!
Every winning shot tells a story of determination and the pride of the accomplishment. We want to see yours come to life on the cover of our catalog. Your photograph has the power to inspire others, capturing the magic of that triumphant moment when you held your Hodges Badge award with pride.
What Contests do you have?
We currently have three catalog cover contests. For each contest there is a grand prize and several honorable mentions.
- The Equestrian Awards Catalog Cover Contest:
Deadline is October 1 of each year. Grand Prize winner receives $2,500 plus your photo featured on the cover of our catalog gaining nationwide recognition. Several honorable mentions will also be chosen and featured inside of the catalog and will receive $100. - The Fair, 4-H and Festival Catalog Cover Contest:
Deadline is November 1 of each year. Grand Prize winner receives $1,000 plus your photo featured on the cover of our catalog gaining nationwide recognition. Several honorable mentions will also be chosen and featured inside of the catalog and will receive $100. - The Dog Show Awards Catalog Cover Contest:
Deadline is December 1 of each year. Grand Prize winner receives $1,000 plus your photo featured on the cover of our catalog gaining nationwide recognition. Several honorable mentions will also be chosen and featured inside of the catalog and will receive $100.

One thing is for certain, you won't be eligible for our contest without a Hodges Badge award. These awards, ranging from elegantly crafted rosettes to sturdy trophies and stunning silver pieces; Not to mention intricately designed medals, represent excellence and achievement. Each piece carries a legacy of craftsmanship and quality.
To confirm the authenticity of your award, simply inspect the back, where you’ll find the unmistakable name or logo of Hodges Badge Company.

If your photo includes a watermark, securing proper permissions through a Photographer’s Release form is essential to ensure we can feature your image. Remember, the focus is on you, your Hodges Badge award, and the powerful story behind the victory.
Restrictions on Photo Editing
We want your photo to capture the raw, genuine essence of your achievement, free from excessive editing. No over-editing, Photoshopping alterations, or AI enhancements. Submit uncropped photos. Let the unfiltered joy of your success shine through without alterations. Just you, your award and a winning smile.

Generally, photos are reviewed and winners are contacted 2 weeks after the closure of each contest.
What happens if my photo is selected as the winner?
Can I submit more than one photo?
Yes! You are more than welcome to submit more than one photo individually.
Can someone else take my photo?
Absolutely! In fact, having a friend, family member, trainer, coach, or photographer take your photo can make it easier to capture a well-composed image. Just make sure you have the necessary permission or Photographer's Release if the image includes a professional photographer's watermark.
